Donkervoort has recently revealed its new generation of the D8 GTO sports car, which is powered by Audi’s 2.5 liter TFSI engine.

According to the manufacturer, the Donkervoort D8 GTO has been developed in a close collaboration with Quattro GmbH, Audi’s high performance subsidiary. Donkervoort has chosen Audi’s 2.5 liter five-cylinder turbo engine fitted onto the Audi TT-RS and the unit is developing a total output of 335 horsepower in the German vehicle, but on the D8 GTO0, the total output is going up to 395 horsepower and a peak torque of 450 Nm.

Thanks to a body made out of carbon, aluminum and steel and the tubular hybrid chassis with fiber and fiber glass body panels, the sports car is only weighing 750 kilograms, being also 35 cm longer and 15 cm wider as a result of the longitudinally mounted five-cylinder Audi engine. Donkervoor says that the new D8 GTO is a new design which is sharing only 5 percent with the D8 270RS and 30 percent with the GT.

The 0 to 100 km/h acceleration is over in 3.0 seconds and the vehicle has a top speed of 255 km/h (158 mph), with an average fuel consumption of 10 – 12 l/km (28.3 – 23.5 mpg UK). Prices for the Donkervoort D8 GTO have been set between 100.000 and 150.000 EUR, excluding taxes.
