In a clear message to Mamata Bannerjee as she continues her seige of Singur West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee on Tuesday said that the Nano will roll out in October as scheduled.

"Singur is an exceptional case. When I spoke to Ratan Tata, I told him our state is changing for the better. I can't afford to drop the project, it is an important one," said West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee.

Speaking to a gathering of industry leaders the West Bengal Chief Minister said the law does not allow him to return the land to protesting farmers.

Mamata Banerjee has demanded the return of 400 of the 997 acres given to the Nano plant in Singur.

"The law does not allow it. We are ready for a package for farmers who have no other livelihood," said Buddhadeb.

The stalemate on Singur continued on Monday, in fact, worsened with the West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee writing to Mamata Bannerjee to come for talks on Singur with him, personally, only to have his appeal rejected.

The Trinamool leader said no to talks before the land from the Tata site was returned to farmers.
