Subaru Canada, Inc. announced this week that Auto123.com named the new Subaru BRZ its 2013 Sports Car of the Year.
The website announced the winners on Nov.15 for the fourth Annual Auto123.com Awards which were chosen by a panel of 10 journalists. Each judge cumulated their scores on 20 different vehicle categories including Sports Car of the Year, which the Subaru won easily according to the company's press release.
"This is another big win for our Subaru BRZ," said Shiro Ohta, president and CEO of Subaru Canada, Inc. in a press release. "Auto123.com's voting panel is comprised of 10 experienced and skilled automotive professionals who have the opportunity to test drive the breadth of our industry. Winning Sports Car of the Year is proof positive that the Subaru BRZ is a back-to-basics true sports car for those that love to drive."
The engine in both the Limited Edition and Premium Edition is a flat-four, 2.0 liter petrol that can develop 197hp. This would mean the car is capable of going 0 to 60 in around 7.5 seconds. The car has received rave reviews on many different auto sites, magazines and newspapers including The Telegraph which gave it five out of five stars.
The base price for the Limited edition is $28,265 according to Subaru, meanwhile the Premium is just $25,495. Both cars come with 17-inch alloy wheels, vehicle stability control, and either a 6-speed manual transmission or automatic transmission is available for your choosing.
The company advertises the car as having plenty of legroom for the driver and passenger seats and critically acclaimed steering technology. The new BRZ was introduced by the company this past June. Toyota produces an identical car in Japan called the GT-86.
