Toyota has launched an all-new Land Cruiser Prado for the Indian market today. The SUV looks thoroughly modern and butch, and will compete with a strong lineup of SUVs – the Mitsubishi Montero, Audi Q5, BMW X3 and the Land Rover Freelander 2.

Powered by a 3 litre diesel engine which puts out 171 bhp and 41.4 kgm of torque, it will feature a typically rugged 4x4 system, as expected on a Land Cruiser. A 5-speed auto box will take care of the gear shifts while modern technologies like adaptive traction control, down-hill assist control and hill start assist will help you out when you get out of tricky situations. Kinetic dynamic suspension system, 3-zone climate control, multi information display, ride height control, parking assist and stability control are part of the package as well.

The 7-seater Prado will be priced at Rs. 52.74 lakh ex-showroom, Banglore. Look forward to a BSM road test in the January issue.
