All Maruti models are currently undergoing a complete facelift. This includes its existing models like M800 and Omni which the company is contemplating to phase out. All the modifications and changes being made in all existing Maruti models will makes these models BS IV compliant.
"Our new K series engines are very efficient compared to previous generation engines. So, we are now working on all existing engines to improve the after treatment on emission of the gases," Maruti Suzuki India's Managing Executive Officer (Engineering) I V Rao.
"We are basically working on catalysers on the same engines for different models to meet the Bharat stage IV norms, that will come into effect from April 2010," he said.
He also commented on phasing out of M800 and Omni stating that his team is currently working on to upgrade both the models besides developing compliant models to meet the new emission norms. He stated that the team has recently started its work on the models and it will take at least three years to functionalize them completely.
