The star of Tata’s Geneva show stand is the latest version of its Nano city car. The aptly named Nano Europa is the model that will see the Indian firm make inroads into the European market.

Set to go on sale in its native market in the next two months, the Nano is expected to arrive in Europe next year.

"The version for the European market will be more fuel efficient, better emission compliance and will be technologically superior," said the industry sources. They also added that the European version will be compliant with Euro –V norms. There is no official word from the company officials so far. Last year, the company has showcased the luxury model of the Indian version at the Geneva Motors Show. Several auto makers around the world had then come up with similar concept of launching ultra-cheap car in the market.

The Indian model is slated for a launch on March 23 2009 but there is no confirmed date for the commercial launch of the European version. The car is also expected to undergo redesigning to meet the European safety norms. The base model of Indian Nano is expected to be priced around $2500 but the prices for fully loaded Indian model and European model still remains unknown.
