NEW DELHI: Despite protest against Tata-Nano project in Singur, steel tycoon and the richest Indian Lakshmi Mittal said on Wednesday that India would be part of his futures. ( Watch )

''Whilst India has been a big part of my past, it is sure to be a big part of all our futures,'' said Mittal, chairman of the world's largest steel company Arcelor Mittal.

The Singur crisis, he said, does not affect the image of India as an investment destination. This kind of problem can happen in any other country. ''It does not give us nightmares. And we will not revisit our plan in India because of Singur episode,'' Mittal added.

In Singur (West Bengal), Tata Motors is facing opposition from farmers against land acquired for a plant to manufacture Rs 1 lakh car Nano. Tata, which has already invested Rs 1,500 crore in the plant, may have to shift base due to the protest.

Mittal said that a solution would be found in Singur soon on the land row. ''If we can get the 123-deal on nuclear power between India and US passed without the help of Communist parties, why can't we resolve the issue of Singur.'' He said Tata and West Bengal will surely solve the Singur problem. ''Ultimately, we are living in democracy and country of law."
