It sounds too good to be true but this is what Norfolk-based Trident Performance Vehicles is claiming for its new Iceni sports car.
The Iceni is powered by a 6.6-litre 550bhp diesel engine that uses something called torque multiplication to achieve stunning consumption figures. At a constant 70mph, the Iceni apparently goes 68 miles on a gallon of diesel and at 30mph an astonishing 108 miles (presumably it’s at this speed that it’ll go 2,000 miles on a tankful).
The Iceni is apparently ready to go into production but, unfortunately, it sounds like the company has run out of funds to build it because “it is currently seeking funds to make this happen”, according to the press release.
I hope it finds the money because I’m keen to find out whether the £75,000 Iceni lives up to its claims.
