Most readers won’t be very familiar with the Ginetta name but that may change in the near future.
Ginetta is a British sports car and engineering firm specializing in kit cars and dedicated track cars
In March of last year it acquired fellow British sports car manufacturer Farbio, which at the time was on the verge of launching a new mid-engine model dubbed the GTS.
The British car maker claims that the new model will take its power from a 3.7 liter delivering a total output of 310 BHP. This way the sports car will be able to sprint from 0 to 60 in around 4 seconds and a top speed of 165 mph, while it will weight 1.100 kg.
“A £68.000, full carbon fiber bodied, 3.7 liter sports car, weighing less than 1.100 kg and delivering 310 BHP at the wheels with a top speed of 165 mph and a 0-60 mph time in around four seconds”, as a short Ginetta statement says.
So far these are all the details availabe about the new sports car from Ginetta, but taking inot account the performance figures, this model would be a competitor for the Porsche Boxter.
As a reminder, the G40R is powered by a tuned 2.0 liter Ford Duratec engine, delivering 175 BHP at 6.700 rpm and 140 lb-ft of torque at 5.000 rpm in standard form. However, it can be boosted up to 280 BHP, while weighing just 840 kg with half a tank of fuel.
