2012 Subaru XV Crossover

Subaru has released a telling teaser photo of its upcoming XV crossover (essentially a high-riding 2012 Impreza), just two weeks out from its Frankfurt Motor Show unveiling.

As expected, the production XV appears largely unchanged from its concept progenitor, with only its large wheels and tinted tail-lights swapped out for market-friendly replacements.

Subaru has also confirmed the inevitable: power for the XV will be provided by the company's new third-generation 2.0 litre four-cylinder Boxer petrol engine, mated to a Lineartronic CVT automatic transmission.

BRZ rear-wheel-drive sports car

Subaru has also released a handful of details for its all-new BRZ Prologue sports car, confirming a 4200mm overall length, 1770mm width and 1270mm height. Wheelbase is listed at 2570mm.

Power will be provided by Subaru's 2.0 litre direct-injected naturally-aspirated Boxer engine, although power and performance figures have not been revealed.

The news follows the unveiling in April of the Boxer Sports Car Architecture, a basic coupe framework and engine housed teasingly in a featureless transparent body.

While it is unclear whether the Frankfurt concept will offer a better look at the car's final design, Subaru has confirmed that production will commence in early 2012.
