Renault Clio Williams to Get Resurrected In 2012
Renault is planning to bring back its legendary hot hatchback: the Clio Williams. The 1992 Clio Williams was one of the best sports cars in history and after the recent tie up of Renault with the Formula One team Williams; this car is all set for a glorious return. Renault has promised this car to be an ultra-special edition one with several components upgraded than the standard car.
The car will be fitted with a naturally aspirated 2.0 liter engine, with a performance boost from 197 bhp to 240 bhp. The car will feature a suspension system similar to the one fitted in the current Renaultsport Clio Cup, with the exception of the race-derived Sachs dampers. The Sachs dampers will be similar to the ones fitted in the Clio Trophy, which was launched in 2005. The new Clio Williams will be fitted with bigger brakes and Bridgestone Potenza tires, which are similar to the ones fitted in the Megane 265 Trophy, the car which set a new lap record for front wheel drive cars on the famous Nurburgring track of Germany.
Although the Clio Williams features performance matching a race car, the interiors will be similar to the standard model. All the standard equipment and features are available, including the Tom Tom sat-nav and climate control. The car will also feature Recaro seats embossed with the Williams logo and a plaque, which will bear the position of each car in the production process.
This car is expected towards the end of 2012 and will also mark the farewell for the current Renaultsport Clio 200. This limited edition car is expected to carry a price tag of £25,000.
