McLaren Automotive, a soon-to-be-independent company which is now headed by Ron Dennis, has been working on a number of McLaren models for the past two years and has now released more details regarding its upcoming lineup. First up is that the sports car maker will produce up to 1000 cars in 2011 and that by 2015, the company will produce up to 4000 vehicles of varying low-volume sports car models. These cars will take on rivals such as the Ferrari F430 or F450 as well as the Lamborghini Gallardo.

The McLaren P11 would be a mid-engined two seater top-of-the-line variant with features including, among others, a flat underpan, high-mounted exhausts as well as a louvred grille. The supercar will also be “greener” and will also come with a road car version of the Kinetic Energy Recovery System (KERS).
