Speculation about Aston Martin's most expensive and exclusive car ever has been rampant since the first details of the One-77 came to light a few months ago. Details about the car have been as rare -- as have photos -- but today, Aston Martin has finally broken the silence.
"It's not all about power or being in a performance race with Bugatti," Aston Martin boss Ulrich Bez told Britain's Autocar. "It's a fabulous, hand-built car that's the pinnacle of what Aston Martin can achieve."
At 180.2-in., the One-77 is actually almost five inches shorter than the DB9 and at 48.2-in. tall, it's shorter than a Vantage. The car looks big thanks to its huge 78.3-in. width. Despite its size, a carbon-fiber tub and liberal use of composites and aluminum keep the weight down to just 3,307 lbs.

"Although the One-77 is two meters wide, it's still got a lot of form in the shape, the waist is in and out, which gives it a very dynamic and elegant look," said Bez.
Keeping the weight down means that the One-77 will be a rocket on the road thanks to a 7.0L V-12 engine developed from Aston Martin's current 6.0L V-12. The exact output hasn't been finalized, but it's expected to lay down an incredible 700 hp. and 520 lb-ft of torque. While no top speed is available yet, Bez said that 200 mph is "unavoidable."

"The engine is a magnificent piece of work," said Bez. "It looks like art, like a watch where you can see all the parts."
Bez also released some non-mechanical details about the supercar. Inside, the One-77 will get an all-new dashboard with new instruments that will show up later down the road in the upcoming Vantage and DB9 replacements. Individual buyers will be able to specify leather, wood and other options for the trim and seats.

While none of the 77 cars that Aston Martin will build have actually been sold yet,Aston-Martin has had over a hundred "expressions of interest" from wealthy buyers. Only six cars have been allotted for the U.S. and only four or five will be sold in the U.K. Bez says that the price will likely be around 1.02 million pounds, or about $1.61 million U.S.
