In a bid to expand its presence in Rajasthan, Volkswagen India has opened a new showroom in Jaipur. This is in line with its aim to operate 15 outlets in India by the end of this year, and is in the process to finalise its further network partners.

As with every other Volkswagen dealership, Volkswagen Jaipur has been provided with intense training in management of sales, service, spare parts and business systems to assure customers receive the best-in-class pre and post sales ownership experience. The move comes at a time when the Indian arm of the German luxury carmaker has exceeded its sales in the country and is setting up a Euro 580 million plant in Chakan, Pune, which will commence its production by 2009.

Located in the heart of the city on Tonk Road, Volkswagen Jaipur showroom is spread over an area of 6,500 sq. ft. The showroom promises premium buying experiences for the customers, on par with any world-class Volkswagen standards of sales and services. Furthermore, Volkswagen Jaipur is also setting up state-of-the-art service facility with tools and equipment capable of servicing 10 cars per day. The facility will be ready by mid October 2008.

According to a senior representative of VW Group, the partnership is in line with its strategy to extend Volkswagen's reach in the country as sees a growing demand for its cars and this step is towards a greater pan-India presence and easier accessibility to customers.

According to a senior representative of VW Passenger Cars India, the level of interest in the Volkswagen brand in India has been very positive. Rajasthan is an integral part of VW India's growth strategy for Indian market. Volkswagen has a substantial growth plan in India which will further strengthen our operations. The company is committed to the market for launching new products aggressively and shall provide the very best, in order to meet the requirements of the Indian consumers, he added.

Currently, Volkswagen operates franchises in Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chandigarh and Ludhiana and now adds Jaipur, Cochin, Chennai and Ahmedabad.

Volkswagen India Private limited is aiming to notch up 20,000 units by the end of this year, thereby posting a 69 per cent growth in sales vis-à-vis last year. The sales would be bolstered by its models such as Jetta as well as its upcoming Polo-based car, as well as from the robust sales of its existing model Skoda Fabia. The company is also inching closer to scale up its dealerships (VW and Audi) from 14 currently to 150 by 2011 in order to further strengthen its Indian operations. The company has already announced that it planned to bring two small cars (a compact and a sedan) built on the Polo platform in India by next year, while it is also planning to introduce its compact car 'Up' in future.
