DHARWAD: Minister for Large and Medium Industries Murugesh Nirani has said that Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa will hold discussions with Managing Director of Tata Motors Ravikant on September 18. The focus will be on the Nano small car manufacturing unit.

Speaking to presspersons here on Monday after visiting Tata Motors’ new unit and TELCON unit near Dharwad, Mr. Nirani said the Chief Minister would invite Tata Motors to set up a car manufacturing unit in Dharwad.

The meeting gains significance in the wake of resistance to the Tata Motors small car manufacturing unit in West Bengal and the subsequent decision of the company to suspend production.

He said Tata Marcopolo Motors would start its bus manufacturing unit at a cost of Rs. 386 crore near Dharwad in another month and the new unit would provide employment to 1,000 persons.
