2013 Hyundai Genesis

Phoenix Hyundai enthusiasts will be delighted at the updates that finally bring the Hyundai Genesis to a true sports car standard.

Under the hood the Genesis has a stunning 2.0-liter four-cylinder all-aluminum engine and a twin-scroll turbocharger. The intercooler has been ramped up and is 53-percent-larger than past models, which improves the horsepower by 64 hp, bringing it to a total of 274 hp. There is also the addition of dual continuous valve timing that helps increase the torque by 52 lb-ft.

The other engine available is the 3.8 liter direct-inject V-6 that comes complete with 348 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. Top speed for the 2.0T engine comes in at 146 mph and 149 mph for the 3.8. The power to weight ratio is astounding for the Genesis and provides a smooth highway ride.

For transmission options Hyundai allows you a little more customization options than just manual or automatic. The 2.0T and 3.8 R-spec engines come standard with the six-speed manual. The 3.8 Grand Touring and 2.0T Premium are available only with the new eight-speed automatic transmission, and finally the 2.0T and the 3.8 Track models have the option of either transmission.

“When Phoenix Hyundai drivers test the new Genesis, they will know that it’s capable of outperforming a slew of high-performance peers. For true high performance you need rear-wheel drive and lots of power. Genesis Coupe has both,” said Michael Brittain, Chapman Hyundai Internet Director.

Inside, the make-over continues with tons of updated features and premium materials. The sport style seats come standard in the front of all Genesis coupes. The cabin is roomy for most people with enough space for anyone to sit comfortably. Bluetooth comes standard on all Genesis models and Hyundai’s Blue Link telematics system is available on the 3.8 Grand Touring/Track and the 2.0T Premium trim levels. The seven-inch touch screen is available with a navinfotainment system that is usable while driving, a benefit rarely seen. The center console was redesigned to more conveniently place gauges such as current mpg and oil temperature. There is also an optional 360-watt Infinity sound system that accompanies the satellite radio and up-to-date traffic notifications.

On the outside the front bumper of the new Genesis has been completely redone and is different than anything else seen with Hyundai. The aggressive hood lines and flawless paint job give the car a sleek look. To round out the updates to the exterior the headlights have a completely new design and the taillights now feature LED lights. Hyundai Genesis Phoenix drivers will love the luxury feel these new features create.

Overall the 2013 Hyundai Genesis has upgraded itself to a true sports car. The power added to the engine and the new transmission options in combination with the interior upgrades, allow the car to be competitive with most high end vehicles and give the look and feel of a true performance car. Head down to your local Phoenix Hyundai dealer for more information on the new Genesis coupe, which hits dealerships in early fall 2012.
