Bugatti Veyron India

Volkswagen AG’s Bugatti Automobiles officially launched Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport in New Delhi, India on October 28. Priced at $3.6 million or about 160 million rupees, the car has a power of 1001 hp at 6000 U/min, a top speed of 407 kmph and maximum torque of 1250 Nm.

The Veyron is now the most expensive car on sale in India pushing the Mercedes Maybach, which retailed at around $1.3 million, to second place. Prices for the open-top variant start at $3.6 million with the closed-top version expected to be unveiled by next year.

The super sports car has titanium, carbon-fiber and aircraft grade aluminum body parts, backstitched leather seats and a reversing camera integrated into the rear-view mirror. Two V8 engines are combined in an 8-litre W16 configuration and four turbochargers give the car 1001 hp power as well as a top speed of 407 kmph.

Bugatti Automobiles Sales Market Manager of Middle East, Europe and India Guy Caquelin said, “Bugatti has been doing well in America, Europe and the Middle East. Now we see India as an emerging market for us, hence we have decided to bring the car to India.” About 150 units of this hand-built sports car will be made in a limited production run, of which 40 have already found homes worldwide.

Exclusive Motors, the sole distributor for Bentley and Lamborghini in India, has been appointed official dealer and is listed on Bugatti’s website as its representative and “Official Bugatti partner of New Delhi.”

Meanwhile, the company said it will deliver the supercars six to eight months after receiving the orders and declined to give sales estimations for the moment. Satya Bagla, Managing Director, Exclusive Motors said that the first delivery will take place in eight months but declined to mention how many cars have been booked in the country.
