Toyota has been reported to be coming out with two Hybrid sports cars as successor to their MR2 and the second that would act as a rebirth of the Supra.

The MR2 would sport a hybrid power house with the engine being a 1.5 liter petrol unit that is capable of delivering 102 hp coupled to an electric motor that would add another 20 hp to the power. This is similar to the Honda CR-Z configuration and deviated from the original plans of having a V6 petrol engine. The MR2 is set to be launched in 2013.

The Supra on the other hand would have a V6 hybrid powertrain. This one is to make its debut in 2013 or 2014 and design would be in line with the FT-HS concept car that had been unveiled by Toyota in 2007 at the Detroit Auto show. Both the FT-86 and the Supra reincarnate are being run in parallel in the production stages.
