Maruti Suzuki going to launch All-new Wagon R 2010 today as 23rd April,2010.
This all-new Wagon R is based on a new platform that currently underpins the Wagon R in the Japanese market.

The Wagon R is taller, wider and longer than before and sports new suspension componentry at both the front and the rear.

This (new WagonR) is not a minor change, but a full model change. So, lot of investments has gone for it. We have invested about Rs 290 crore for upgrading the model,” Maruti Suzuki India Executive Officer (Marketing and Sales) Mayank Pareek said.

Vendors have also put in money for the project, which is additional from the company’s share, he added.

Pareek said when the company does a minor facelift of any model, it costs about Rs 50 crore.

When asked about the LPG variant of the existing WagonR, Pareek said, “As of now, we have stopped the Duo and the new WagonR will only be in gasoline.”

Maruti Suzuki will launch the car in three trims – LX, LXi and VXi, but won’t be launching a Duo version initially. The Duo LPG version currently constitues about 22-25 per cent of the total sale basket of all Wagon Rs sold. The Wagon R is currently the second best selling model in Maruti’s stable and over 800,000 Wagon Rs have been sold since it was first launched in late-1999.

The new Maruti WagonR is expected to be priced at Rs 3.3 lakhs that includes more space and the new K-Series engine 1-litre engine.

Existing Maruti WagonR is currently offered in discount of Rs 25000 (at a price range of Rs 3.15 to Rs 4.5 lakh) and is offered in three variants. Maruti Alto is currently getting a discount of Rs 8000 and the company recalled 1 lakh units of A-Star due to fault with fuel tanks.
