Living up to the true Lotus brand spirit, the performance and efficiency figures are breathtaking. Think of the Evora 414E Hybrid concept as a beautiful and compelling blend of the delicious Lotus Evora sports car and the upcoming Chevrolet Volt.

The plug-in electric manoeuvred system comprises two 204 hp electric motors, each powering one of the rear wheels good for 295 lb-ft of torque. It covers a range of 300 miles combined with the company’s 1.2-liter, 3-cylinder Range Extender gasoline engine powering 47 hp. It can also operate on alcohol-based fuels. On electricity alone, it travels up to 35 miles. Gears shift via a 7-speed paddle shift transmission. It develops 414 PS, (306 kW), for Pferdestarke, a largely German unit of power measurement, and can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in less than 4 seconds. It has two driving modes – Eco and Sport, besides being equipped with an energy recuperation system.

The new HALOsonic audio technology makes the car audible to people outside and inside the vehicle, with a choice of four engine sounds which alerts pedestrians to the car’s presence besides providing aural “vroom-vroom” satisfaction. For extra style and touch, it comes with a floating glass roof and engine cover with funky circuitry graphics. The 2-seater sportsterEvora comes in a copper color scheme keeping the interior and the exterior in association with the electrical systems.

Of all electric cars and hybrids, this concept looks the most promising. Stay tuned for test-drive details before the Lotus Evora 414E Hybrid heads for production.
