The high demand for low-emission hybrid and electric vehicles has made auto makers think about new green rides, which could save the world from the disasters of global warming. Honda tried to do its bit by announcing a hybrid sports car dubbed the CR-Z, which is to go on sale next year, and now we have reports that Toyota too is following a similar trend.

According to a report published on Carscoop, the automaker is eyeing the relaunch of its MR2, this time with a hybrid engine and a new name – the MR-S. The vehicle is expected to be powered by a custom version of the Toyota Prius’ hybrid powertrain. The vehicle could also retain its mid-sized rear-drive layout.
