Honda is calling this latest version of the CR-Z a concept, just as it did the first CR-Z concept that bowed at the Tokyo motor show two years ago. But if this is a concept, we're not sure what is being cloaked.

Honda's history is that its concepts closely resemble the production cars that follow, which gives us high confidence that this new CR-Z vision is practically spot-on as to the production two-seater that goes on sale in Japan early next year. The car should make it to U.S. showrooms later in the year.

We know that the CR-Z will be a hybrid, using Honda's Integrated Motor Assist powertrain. But Honda will try to up the fun factor with a manual transmission in the two-seater. Look for a small four-cylinder engine under the hood.
