The second generation Nissan Teana offers you unparalleled comfort and an extremely refined driving experience

Nissan makes some great cars and that's that! Why this Japanese manufacturer of some hugely successful models such as the Murano, Altima and Maxima, to name a few, hasn't done exceptionally well in the past, here in India, probably has to do with the fact that their models sold here are CBUs, which simply put, mean, ridiculously high pricetags. However, dispel all doubts, you may have, about their models because what they have brought to India are some of their finest vehicles in terms of technology and comfort and now by upgrading their current range with more powerful vehicles, the best has just gotten better.

The new second generation Nissan Teana now packs a real punch. The car, built on a D platform now sports a 2.5-litre V6 engine, as compared to the earlier 2.3-litre engine and it now belts out 180bhp and 23.2 kgm of torque. Floor the car and the head rush you get has to be experienced to be believed.

The Nissan Teana gets new triangular headlights, and a re-designed bumper with round fog lights. The massive chrome grille and the alloys add to the car's distinguished look. The Teana also gets attractive LED taillights. Everything on the car looks bigger and better. The well-contoured waistline and roofline make the Teana stand out from its competitors and the chrome inserts add to the car's classy appeal. The build quality of the car is simply superb and typical of what you'd expect from a Japanese carmaker. Even the engine sounds great.

Saying pure luxury has arrived would be an understatement. Fit and finish are extraordinary. How else do you explain the ottoman in the passenger seat and twin sun-roof? Come to think of it, it is actually the best car for taking a loved one out on a romantic drive with the stars twinkling right above your head. Jokes apart, the car although primarily positioned as a chauffer-driven car offers you get plenty of leg room, shoulder room and headroom inside. In fact, it is really comfortable in the rear and all that space on account of the long wheelbase gives you the true feeling of luxury. Not to mention the large windows which add to the feeling of space. The Ottoman seat provides you with perfect support to rest your legs especially on those long road trips. The interiors are classy with wood and beige coloured leather trimmings. Keyless entry, memory settings for driver's seat, adjustable lumbar support, rear-powered sun shade, push button ignition and ventilated front seats are what make this car loaded with luxury.

The dash is strikingly different not because it houses the information display that gives you radio and air-con settings, but because unlike other cars it is not cluttered with hundreds of buttons and controls. The Teana's dash looks clean, classy and most importantly uncluttered making it extremely easy for both driver and passenger to reach for the controls. The Teana's instrument cluster dazzles, especially at night and besides being easy to read, it also gives you air-con and radio settings. The steering mounted controls spell quality and definitely feel superior as compared to its competitors. The Teana comes with a cavernous boot for all those trips to the airport when you're carrying plenty of luggage for your vacations.

Driving the car was indeed one of the finest experiences. We came away extremely impressed with the car's ride and handling. Also its list of safety features was noteworthy. The manner in which the Teana accelerates, handles high speeds and corners is remarkable. It just glided over potholes effortlessly. However, what bowled us over was the way the car behaved during it's braking test. ABS sprung into action and the EBD along with Brake Assist prevented this mammoth car from skidding even better than what we expected it to. The fact that the car had dual front airbags, side airbags and curtain airbags was doubly reassuring.

Overall, the Teana is what you want to get yourself if you want to stand out. Besides the fact that it offers a variety of unique colours and a two year/50,000 km warranty, Nissan is also renowned for being a reliable carmaker worldover. Yes, the price tag is ridiculously high and with that V6 engine under its hood, counting money each time you top up, would be a real waste of time but then, don't forget it is a CBU and that nothing really comes close to the high that driving a luxurious V6 can give you.
