New Delhi, Feb. 26: Tata Motors will launch the Nano on March 23 and take bookings for the Rs 1-lakh-car from April.

“The car will be on display at our dealerships from the first week of April. Bookings will commence from the second week of April,” the company said.

According to a company official, “The booking process and other details of the Nano will be announced on the day of the launch.”

Initially, the Nano is likely to be offered to celebrities, sportspersons and politicians.

Production of the car will be from Gujarat’s Sanand, where the company relocated from Singur in Bengal following a massive agitation by Trinamul Congress’s Mamata Banerjee.

As it builds the facility at Sanand, Tata Motors is preparing for limited production from Pantnagar in Uttarakhand and Pune.

“Tata Motors is making arrangements for the widest possible network to book the car, so that prospective customers can conveniently get booking facilities at their locations, across the length and breadth of India,” the statement said.

The booking money is likely to be between Rs 50,000 and Rs 70,000. The SBI will be the sole booking agent
